Mr, Mrs, Miss dan Ms



You definitely know the greeting Mr., Mrs., Miss and Ms in everyday life. Perhaps there are some who do not understand the plain and simple greeting but became confusing. But do not worry. Because today we will discuss about the uses and differences of the greeting.

1. Mr or Mister
Meaning: Sir. This greeting is used for men, and placed in front of the family name. According to British culture, Mr. just used to say hello to a teacher, lecturer, or certain people who have a respectable positions. If you already know each other, they will mention though is older.
Example : - Mr.Jack is my English teacher.
                - Good morning, Mr.Edward.

2. Mrs or mistress
This greeting is used for a married woman. The word is placed at the front greeting the family name. As well as greeting word, mr., according to British culture, Mrs. just used to say hello to a teacher, lecturer, or certain people who have a respectable positions. If you already know each other, they will mention though is older.
Example : - Good afternoon, Mrs.Shania.
                - Mrs.Julie is our lecturer.

3. Miss
Meaning: young lady. Greeting words for unmarried women. This greeting word placed before the family name. 
Example: - Hi, Miss.Tania. How are you today? 
               - Miss.Mirna is a nurse.

4. Ms
This greeting words can be used for unmarried women and married women, placed before the family name. Greetings 'Ms' is often used to conceal a person's marital status or used to greet a lady, in first meeting because we doesn't know her status.
Example: - How do you do Ms.Terry?
               - See you next time, Ms.Shanty.

Meaning of AM and PM





Am and pm is a time format that is used to distinguish day and night in a single day. This format is commonly used in the United States and Europe. In Indonesia, the time format is not used because it only uses 24-hour time format. As we know that the conventional matter of hours until the number is only 12, whereas in one day has 24 hours. To distinguish divided into two periods, namely 12 noon and 12 o'clock at night.

1. a.m stands for "ante meridiem" which means before noon.
    am starting from 12.00 pm until the hour of the day or before 11:59 noon.

2. pm stands for post meridiem meaning after noon 
    pm starts from 12.00 noon until 11:59 hours the night or after noon.


Example:


1. 06.00 o'clock = 6:00 a.m.
2. 17.00 o'clock = 3:00 p.m.
3. 11.00 o'clock = 11:00 a.m.
4. 14.00 o'clock = 2:00 p.m.
5. 16.00 o'clock = 4:00 p.m
6. 19.00 o'clock = 7:00 p.m.
7. 21,00 o'clock = 9:00 p.m.
8. 07.00 o'clock = 7:00 a.m.
9. 09.00 o'clock = 9:00 a.m
10. 10.00 o'clock = 10:00 a.m

Now we will learn about "Telling The Time (Talking About Time)". One study on this theme is to read a clock. Reading the clock in English are not much different from Indonesian. There are several ways to be aware that what we say about the right time. For more easy to understand, look at the following pictures:

a quarter = seperempat (15 minutes)
a half = setengah (30 minutes)

commonly used sentences that related to Telling The Time:
- What time is it?
  (Jam berapa ini?)

- What time is it now?
  (Jam berapa sekarang?)

- It is ten o'clock.
  (Sekarang jam 10.)

- What time do you usually wake up?
  (Jam berapa biasanya kamu bangun tidur?)

- I wake up at five o'clock.
  (Saya bangun pada jam 05.00)

- What time do you have breakfast?
  (Jam berapa kamu sarapan.)

- I have breakfast at six o'clock.
  (Saya sarapan pada jam 06.00

MOMO

A Kind-hearted Boy




             A boy walks home from school. His name is Momo. On the way home, he meets an old beggar.
"Please help me, help me .... I'm hungry ... I'm thirsty ..." says the beggar. Momo takes a pity on him.
"I want to give him money, but I don't have any," says Momo to himself. Momo remembers a banana in his bag. He takes and gives the banana to the beggar.
"Thank you,  young boy. God bless you," says the beggar happily.
"You're welcome," repplies Momo.

            Afterwards, Momo leaves the beggar. He remembers his parents at home.
"Thank God, my mother and father always give me food every day," Momo whispers. Then he meets his friend. His name is Bubu. He is riding a bicycle. He almost hits Momo. Bubu is still practising to ride bicycle. Suddenly "Bump!" Bubu falls down from his bicycle "Help!" Bubu shouts. He is trying to get up. Momo helps Bubu and takes him to his house.
"Thank you, Momo," says Bubu.
"You're welcome," replies Momo.

            Arriving home, Momo tells his mother about the beggar and Bubu.
"Did you help them, Momo?" asks his mother.
"Yes, Mom. I took a pity on them. They needed help. As you told me, we must help each other."
"Oh, my dear, you are really a nice and good boy. Mom loves you, honey ...," says his mother happily.

Whales


  Whales are mammals.  They breathe air like us.  They rise to the surface of the water to breathe.  They live in the oceans of the world.

  There are many different kinds of whales.  Some are the killer whale, humpback whale, sperm whale and gray whale.  They are some of the largest animals.  The largest whale is the blue whale.  It can grow to be a hundred feet long and weigh as much as 15 elephants.  It is the largest animal on earth.



  Whales leap out of the water.  They also dive and roll.  Whales dive to get food.  Some whales can dive more than a mile down!

  Some whales are found in zoos, public aquariums, and entertainment parks.  These whales live in large glass tanks.  They learn things very easily.  They are trained to play with ball, leap, and dive down deep for certain objects.

The Ducks and The Foxs


      Two duck sisters were walking along the road to the pond for their morning swim. "This is a good road," said the first sister, " but I think, just for a change, let's find a new road. There are many roads to the pond."
"No," said the second sister, " I don't agree. I like this road.
     One morning the Ducks met a Fox sitting on a fence along the road. "Good morning, ladies," said the Fox. "Are you going to the pond?"
"Oh, yes," said the sisters, "we come along here everyday."
"Interesting," said the Fox with a toothy smile.
      The next morning when the Sun came up, the first sister said, "I think we will meet that Fox again if we go that way. I did not like his toothy smile. Let's find another road!"
"You are silly," said the secod sister. "That Fox smiled at us. I think he is polite"
      The two Ducks walked down the same road. There was the Fox, sitting on the fence. This time he carried a sack.
"Lovely ladies," said the Fox. "I'm waiting for you. I'm very glad to see you."
     The Fox opened his sack and jumped upon them. The sisters quacked and screamed. They flapped and flopped their wings. They flew home and bolted their door. The next morning, the two Ducks did not go out. They were afraid. On the following day, They found a new road to the pond. It took them safely to the pond.
