Demonstrative Pronouns


Demonstrative pronouns are pronouns that are used to indicate the direction, location, or place an object.

Pronouns used are: this, that, these, and those. Pronouns bookmark this and these show something close, while that and those shows something much. If it is a single object (singular) then used this or that, but if it is plural object (plural) then used these or those.

example :
- That is a good idea.
- I will never forget this.
- Those are my friends.
- These are my books.

In a sentence, this and that as a singular demonstrative pronoun can serve as subject, direct object (direct object), or prepositional object (object of the preposition), example:
- That Is Whom you should meet at the dinner at the Batik Gallery. (subject)
- Would you deliver this? (direct object)
- Now, listen to this. (objects of prepositions)

So did these and those plural demonstrative pronoun as the subject can act, direct object (direct object), or a preposition object (object of the preposition), example:
- These are the preferred pens in this department. (subject)
- She donated those to the team. (direct object)
- Mark can work with those. (objects of prepositions)
